LINA DE GUEVARA

Originally from Chile, Lina de Guevara is an actor, theatre director and drama teacher. She’s a specialist in Commedia dell’ Arte, Transformational Theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed. She’s attended several workshops with Augusto Boal and participated as performer and facilitator in the 7th Festival of Theatre of the Oppressed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the 8th Festival in Toronto, Ontario. She’s the founder and artistic director of PUENTE Theatre Society which has been creating and producing plays about the immigrant experience since 1988. Her latest directing credits in Victoria include PUENTE’s productions of "Canadian Tango 09" “Letters for Tomas”, “Storytelling Our Lives” and “Uthe/Athe”. She has taught at many institutions such as the Austral University in Chile, University of Victoria, Royal Roads Uniiversity, Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific and Kaleidoscope Theatre, Canadian College of Performing Arts & Theatre Institute San Jose California.
